POLICE OFFICER CANDIDATE

The Borough of Rankin is accepting applications for part-time police officer positions.
REQUIREMENTS:

Completed applications and proof of minimum requirements must be returned in person to 320 Hawkins Avenue Rankin, PA 15104. EOE. Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Qualifications

 • Be at least 21 years of age
 • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
 • Be Act 120 Certified or have successfully completed Act 120 Training and successfully passed the final exam, thus being eligible for Act 120 Certification once hired by the Borough
 • Possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License
 • Be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a Police Officer
 • Pass a background check
 • Pass a psychological evaluation
 • Be a United States citizen
 • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)



BOROUGH SECRETARY

Rankin Borough, PA is accepting applications for a Borough Secretary/Treasurer. The position requires the following:
maintaining legally required files in accordance with the Municipal Records Act;
processing of payables/receivables, budgeting, financial reporting, and bank account reconciliation using Quickbooks;
processing bi-weekly and monthly payroll using a payroll service;
attendance at Council meetings with preparation of agendas and minutes;
knowledge of employee benefit programs;
preparing and filing government reports;
processing workers’ compensation claims;

Other duties as required.
Candidates should have a minimum of three years of experience in an office environment, preferably in a government office;
graduated high school;
knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting practices;
computer experience with Word, Excel and e-mailing;
able to multi-task within established deadlines and work independently;
personal integrity;
be courteous and professional in dealing with the general public;
and be able to pass a background check.

School Crossing Guard

Rankin Borough is currently looking to appoint 4 school crossing guards. This is a part-time split shift position working M-F with an assigned post. OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB:
The School Crossing Guard is responsible for providing the safe movement of children to and from the bus / bus stop when crossing intersections and while boarding and embarking from the school bus.
The Crossing Guards scope of authority and responsibility is limited to duties as outlined and does not extend to enforcement and regulatory action. When on duty, School Crossing Guards work under the supervision and direction of the Rankin Chief of Police.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Traffic Control, creates temporary traffic gaps as necessary, watches for traffic gaps and walks children across roadway/intersection while holding a "STOP" sign for approaching vehicles, records and reports license plate numbers of drivers disregarding instruction and reports potentially dangerous, hazardous traffic or vehicle issues to Allegheny County 911. JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
18 years of age or older
Must be a responsible, dependable & punctual individual.

Planning Commission

Description: This committee acts as an advisory board to Council on all planning and development issues within the borough. They review development applications on a case-by-case basis for housing and commercial projects, as well as, conditional use permits. This committee reviews, discusses and makes recommendations to Council. The committee meets the 1st Monday of every month at the Rankin Borough Building at 7PM.

Zoning Board

Description: This committee acts as an advisory board to Council by hearing appeals of zoning decisions, they make decisions on applications to permit buildings or land use, which may vary from zoning regulations. This committee reviews, discusses and makes recommendations to Council. The committee meets on an as-needed basis in the Rankin Borough Building.
